The club sports field deliverable group recently sent the President's Council a letter that urges President Crutcher to "consider this petition for improvements to the club and intramural sports field." The group, comprised of five senators and executive board members from the SGA, sent the letter on April 9.

The letter details the current conditions of Clark Field (the only field space available to club sport teams), the amount of support that this petition has received from the Wheaton community, and the changes that the group feels need to take place to make the field acceptable for play use including "a flat surface; sufficient lighting; a sprinkler system; and a maintenance arrangement."

"We hope that this letter will get the attention of the president's council and give us an opportunity to speak to them in person by the beginning of May," said club sports field deliverable group member Cara Strachan '08. "Although I don't think renovating the club sports field is a top priority of the administration, with over 600 student signatures on this petition, they must respond because it is clearly an issue that is important to the students."

According to group members, at press time the letter had not yet received a response but they said that they expect to receive one by the start of May.

"We realize the priorities of the Administration are the CSII and eventually a new dorm, which is why we aren't calling for a new field immediately," said club sports field deliverable group member Ben Spalter '10. "We are asking for a temporary fix through renovating the current field."

The petition itself garnered over 600 signatures within one week, which Strachan says shows the amount of support the student's have for club sports teams: "I think we have done a good job demonstrating that this issue is significant to quality of life on campus."

She went on to say tha rennovations would improve qualiy of life on campus.

"Renovating the field is just one way that the administration can improve overall student satisfaction. Small things like not being able to host home games on campus, or have productive practices on a level, safe field can negatively affect student satisfaction."
