SGA President JR Wallace '07 released his administration's draft strategic plan, "Roadmap for Progress," to all SGA club leaders and the Senate for feedback at the end of last month.

The plan consists of six goals created by the members of the Executive Board and action plans to accomplish them. Each goal within the plan is designed to improve the Wheaton community.

Senator Liz VanDerMeiren '08 explained at a Senate meeting that each of the goals were made by the executive board and then were revised by the Visions Committee.

SGA's goals for the 2006-2007 academic year are to challenge the administration on issues of affordability, encourage an "Honor Code Culture," cultivate communication inside the community, increase diversity, improve educational services for students, and finally to allocate SGA funding to clubs properly.

The plan sets out to ensure these goals are met by dividing each goal into objectives and then further down into individual actions.

SGA hopes to make the college more affordable through working to increase financial aid and asking the administration for fee projections for the upcoming years, and possibly working to help students find ways to minimize their debt.

By increasing knowledge of the Honor Code, restructuring the role of Procedural Advisers, and creating more campus-wide events that relate to the Honor Code, SGA intends to create a better Honor Code community, the draft report states.

To increase communication on campus, SGA will expand the role of the executive board, reinforce senator responsibilities, encourage dialogue with faculty and staff, and continue communication with the Trustees.

Enhancing social and multicultural programming and infusing issues of diversity into campus life are some ways SGA plans to increase diversity. To enhance educational services, SGA will work to strengthen connections and to infuse more non-western dialogue onto campus. By managing SGA funds more accurately, SGA aims to ensure fiscal responsibility.
