Is it just me or has the Wheaton campus entered its own version of Helter Skelter? Maybe it's the rain, the wacky weather or the idea of Halloween on a weekend, I dont know. What I do know is that in my four years at school, I have never seen such scandalous behavior on this campus.
To the person (or people) who stole the Pride Flag, I can only imagine that you are feeling anxious, scared, or angry. I do not know the reasons why you decided to cut the flag down and I recognize that you may have been disrespected or felt alienated by its presence on the Chapel.
To the Editor: As co-chairs of the President's Action Committee on Inclusive Excellence (PACIE) we must comment on the recent campus theft of a cherished symbol of equality for all sexual orientations. PACIE's work focuses on long-range campus climate issues, not specific troubling events.
I read with great delight Nicholas Jacobsen's frothing-at-the-mouth response to the fact that an opinion other than his exists. While it is understandable that he can express himself only in the rudimentary and inept manner he demonstrated last week, one does have higher hopes for the future.
What is the fundamental issue permeating every aspect of the debate on health care? Please, think about this; your life and future depend on it. I will leave this unanswered for now, and I will turn to some much-warranted facts. First, we must discover the root cause of this struggling health care system.
There simply is no question that our nation's health care system requires substantial reform-reform to cut waste, perfect the faults and leaks in disbursement, and protect the liquidity of massive programs like Medicare that teeter financially. Passing sensible, affordable and responsible health care reform is unquestionably in America's best interest.
